Faux (2014) 76x58cm, pastel, conte, charcoal, ink on Stongehenge paper, $975
“I got to like him more and fear him less now that…there’s nothing he can do to put me in power or not put me in power…” Tony Blair (Sutherland .J, Murdoch, 2013)
Investigating distortion in the news media, Faux looks up at media mogul Rupert Murdoch as a figure of significance. Murdoch not only influences the content of his own outlets, but by monopoly, he has influenced the global news climate. He exploits his power to manipulate the masses and politicians in his own corporate interests.
Faux was selected as a finalist in the Marie Ellis OAM Prize for Drawing 2014.
