This artwork looks through the eyes of the disavantaged. The message I wanted to communicate through this artwork was, “What will it take to look through our eyes for once?”

The cigarette represents the lack of respect and consideration in our community for those less fortunante. To symbolise this the cigarette has been placed on the same level as the down trodden lurking in the shadows.

The forgotten people call for the passerby to look through their eyes and help them, but the man ignores them and walks on, turning a blind eye – hence the title, “Blind Eye”.

At first glance it would appear that those holding their eyes in their hands are the blind ones but it is the passerby that is truly the blind one.
