This drawing depicts a couple who have just received a phone call to inform them of the loss of a loved one. I got the inspiration for this artwork after my mother received a phone call to inform her that my Nanna had past away.
On the same night my mother received the call, I drew a quick sketch of a couple (respresenting my parents), crying with the man comforting the woman, just as my father had done for my mother.
I later lost the sketh. I didn’t begin to draw the final drawing until six months after my Nanna’s passing. I had to draw from memory without the original sketch. I found the original sketch a couple months after I finished the drawing.
This drawing doesn’t only represent my family’s loss but all those who have just love loved ones under any circumstances.
The whole drawing has been created using fine-point ink pens sized 0.2 and 0.4mm.
