Next Stop...(2025)

TV, scrolling sign, Raspberry Pi, Projector, curtain rod & curtains
Blurring the line between public and private, domestic and transit, Next Stop… is a wall-based installation that brings together projection, animation, and familiar aesthetics of train and home windows.
Looping animations play in sync across a TV screen and floor projection, creating the illusion of both a moving train window and the light it casts. The repetitive passing of power pole silhouettes not only elevates the illusion, but also finds similarity to the tick of an analog clock – a quiet reminder of time’s passage and a subtle nod to urgency or looming crisis..
Ambiguity of whether this ‘window’ represents a train window or a domestic window is created with the addition of curtains. The curtain fabric, also used in Sit Tight, evokes the visual language of moquette, a material used to obscure wear and stain in public seating. The addition of window bars in the floor projection further adds to the ambiguity of whether this window is representative of being from a private or public space.
Suspended between stillness and motion, the work reflects on what it means to be passive in a world that keeps moving. Even behind the curtain, at home, disconnected – we’re still on board. Next Stop… invites reflection on personal agency, the quiet tension of waiting, and our shared trajectory toward an uncertain future.
